
Ross has been involved in the private equity and venture capital industry in Asia, Australia and New Zealand since 1987. He is founding managing director and shareholder of Direct Capital. He is involved in all activities within Direct Capital, but in particular, with investor and governance issues. Ross played a key role in establishing the private equity industry in New Zealand and was a driver behind the formation of the New Zealand Venture Capital Association.
Ross has held directorships in a number of Direct Capital portfolio companies including Max Fashions and New Zealand King Salmon. Direct Capital has invested in 60 private companies to date.
Prior to establishing Direct Capital, Ross was a director of Grant Samuel's Auckland office and a partner in BKW Partners, a Hong Kong‐based private equity firm which managed a US$50 million Thai Asset Fund and a pan‐Asian NZ$100m private equity portfolio. He began his career as an attorney with Baker & McKenzie in Hong Kong.
