Qualifiers Announced

The top qualifiers for the 2010 Entrepreneurs’ Challenge have been announced and 26 promising companies have been selected to persuade the judges and stake their claim to a portion of the $1 million available for funding.

“It is inspiring to see that the calibre of entrants has reached such a high level, in just our second year of competition. These qualifiers all have the spirit that entrepreneurs need to succeed on a global scale and be strong ambassadors for NZ,” says Brian Hannan, Challenge Committee Chair.

Still time for $1m challenge hopefuls

An iconic clothing company, a production company and a healthcare business are some of those in the running for the $1million Entrepreneurs’ Challenge.

Business School Dean Professor Greg Whittred says the University has received a steady stream of registrations from a variety of sectors since the Prime Minister the Hon John Key launched the Challenge on June 24.

Prime Minister launches Entrepreneurs’ Challenge

Prime Minister John Key has launched the Entrepreneurs’ Challenge at the Business School, saying New Zealand needs a savings culture to invest in our entrepreneurs so they can take on the world.

In his speech at the evening function on 24 June, attended by 200 people in the Level 1 foyer of the Owen G Glenn Building, the Prime Minister told guests New Zealand needs entrepreneurs because it is a small country located a long way from the rest of the world.
